Went out at 5 AM near our hotel looking for monkeys. Didn't see any but heard plenty of them. What sounds like dogs in the distance are howler monkeys 🐒

This is the kitchen and new home the farming family built along the Cano Negro River. No windows and that is the only kitchen. Four people live there full time. They served us a lunch with pork, gar fish, rice & beans, plantains and home made chocolate. The raise cacao (chocolate beans) plantains, coconuts, corn and peppers. Very nice elderly lady prepared lunch which was the best meal so far. Solar power with battery back up. The home was completely open air, no wondows.windows. They younger lady in grey was the owner and guide for Cano Negro Experience. Originally from Bolivia. Best tour so far. The view from our hotel balcony in Nuevo Arenal. Bougainvillea Lake Lodge and yes that is a medium size steer laying in the yard behind the hotel. He has 2 friends with him that come to visit. In my younger fishing days I could have had a ball on this lake.

Common sight. This volcano erupted in 1968 and continued until 2010 if I remember correctly. So they decide to build lots of hotels at the base. What could possibly go wrong??

Went to Paradise Hot Springs resort in La Fortuna for the day. Several pools through out the property that are heated as high as 125 F just from the superheated ground water from the volcano. This pool had 3 - 2 inch lines feeding hot water that was hot enough you wouldn't want to keep your hand under it but not hot enough to burn you. There were also 2 other lines running with cool water to maintain it at roughly 100 F. We didn't turn into soup so I guess that's a good thing. Later in the evening we had our first blackout. Only 5 minutes.

Go to Costa Rica they said. This happened Friday. By the end of our stay we will be about 90 minutes from here.

Off to Costa Rica. Coast to coast trip. Starting on the Carabean side tomorrow. Wish us luck!

Found a great new breakfast/lunch place in Rocky Mount. They even had TAYLOR HAM, egg & cheese sandwiches! Jersey John's Deli. Nice lady from Monmouth County. They even had Jersey 101.5 playing on the radio! Note - they tried to be politically correct and use both terms Taylor Ham and the totally incorrect porkroll term on thier menu.

Check out the Breakfast Bar in Wilson at the old Bill Ellis location. Very friendly staff and great breakfast food. Open mornings and afternoon till 3. Primarily breakfast foods with somethings, pork tenderloin an even a T Bone with eggs.

Angel Oak is supposed to be the oldest living live oak in America. Estimated to be 400 years old. There was one in Basking Ridge NJ that died of old age and was cut down around 2018. It was estimated to be 600 years old!

Got a late start today. Foam pad floor and wall foam for protection, liner is in. Just need some fine tuning of the top cap trim and finish up the plumbing. Then the water bill goes UP UP UP. LoL

I told Melanie I'm tired of the pool and had a crew take it down. Now, the doctors say after several surgeries and month of rehab, I may be able to eat solid food and work a motorized scooter. They wanted to know how I got so beat up. I told them it was all a blur. Needless to say, the new pool goes up tomorrow.

Well, I'm officially OLD! Been watching Family Affair on Tubi and The Ghost and Mrs Muir on You Tube. My cousin bought me this hat while I was in WV. I guess all of this makes it official.
